Stop by Yulara – Watch the Uluru sunset

Your epic journey begins at 2 p.m. when you rendezvous with your Storyteller Guide at the Desert Gardens Hotel. Explore the Cultural Centre in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and experience its natural beauty and rich history. Uluru and Kata Tjuta both have deep spiritual meanings that are central to many Dreamtime stories. As some of these are secret, you will still get a sense of indigenous culture through informative exhibits that showcase this magnificent country as well as talks by Anangu and Parks rangers.

Tonight, you can make your camp at an observation point near Ayers Rock, where you will be able to watch the sunset over the desert (and enjoy). This is a fabulous time for reflection on the vastness of the ancient landscape around you. You could also join in a communal campfire dinner with fellow travellers before spending a night out under the stars inside your swag, which is an Australian sleeping bag.

Uluru

Get up early in the morning to watch the sunrise from the rock formations at Uluru. It is 348 meters high and has existed for 550 million years, making it a natural wonder. Take part in a guided walk of approximately 10 km around the base of Uluru to get closer to its soul and know more about its past. Find peace near hidden waterholes, hide under a Sheoak tree or enter hidden caves. After the lunch break, one can either rest by the swimming pool or engage in some activities offered by Ayers Rock Resort, such as didgeridoo performance, garden walkthroughs, guided tours or going to the museum. An evening meal will be served at the campsite. Walking up to 10km on the Uluru base walk and shorter exploratory walks alongside driving for around 50km are on today’s agenda.

These meals include B | L | D: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Return and rest after lunchtime at your tented sites. There is also other entertainment like a didgeridoo music show, walking through gardens, or visiting the museum with historical items at Ayers Rock resort, among others. Enjoy a tasty dinner this evening at the campsite! It will take roughly fifty kilometres and several hours of trekking, along with exploring numerous small trails along Uluru’s circumference, which may cover distances of ten kilometres each. Tent camping in Ayers Rock Resort Campground is recommended; all packages include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Journey will be from Yulara to Kings Canyon/Watarrka

Yulara – our point of departure towards Kings Canyon/Watarrka National Park is situated just below Watarrka National Park and Kings Canyon. Kata Tjuta lies ahead, with its peak towering over my head at five hundred forty-six meters (546 m). This sacred site speaks volumes through Indigenous creation-time stories such as ‘Many Heads’. On the way, we will first take a guided walk along the Valley of Winds, surrounded by wildlife and wildflowers. In fact, we shall follow a creek valley nestled between two of Kata Tjuta’s largest domes.

Then lunchtime is spent at Kings Creek. The Karrke Aboriginal Cultural Experience is an hour-long activity that explores culturally significant places for the Luritja and Pertame people. This features bush tucker stories and art. Later on, just relax at the Kings Creek Station campsite until dinner time. Today, I expect to travel about three hundred twenty-five kilometers (325km).

The Kings Creek Station offers swag camping as an alternative accommodation choice.

Trip Group travelled from Kings Canyon to Coober Pedy

Kings Canyon Rim Walk starts early every morning. Within Watarrka National Park, you’ll find towering sandstone walls that go up to 300 meters high, secluding waterholes, ferny gullies, deep abysses, winding canyons and enigmatic caves – it seems like an oasis in central Australia. Enjoy the stunning 360-degree view all around you, including Priscilla’s Crack, which was made famous by Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. Also, there are pinkish-red sandstone domes called Lost City and a lush green Garden of Eden with a refreshing waterhole there; such beauty promises magic!

Today’s thrilling journey takes us across the boundary of Northern Territory and South Australia and makes stops on the way before our final destination of Coober Pedy, also known as the “Opal Capital of the World.” The town has unique architecture due to the hot climate, with many homes dug into the hillsides.

We will spend tonight in an underground bunkhouse. There will be a fabulous time for leisure activities and dining at nearby restaurants. Today we will cover a total of about 760 km.

The Umoona Opal Mine offers subterranean bunk lodging with a variety of sharing choices.

Coober Pedy – William Creek

Make sure you call Josephine’s Gallery and Kangaroo Orphanage after your breakfast, where you can see orphaned kangaroos in northern parts of South Australia since it was opened in 2008. And there’s no place like Josephine’s Gallery—a must-visit art gallery when you’re here that features some stunning Aboriginal Art, including different kinds of Aboriginal artifacts and renowned works by many Australian Indigenous artists. After taking a leisurely stroll around town, head back to the Umoona Opal Mine & Museum, where you can learn about early aboriginal and European settlements, view living conditions miners faced during their early days here, or even try your luck at ‘noodling’ for opals!

Instead of going along the paved Stuart Highway, we will travel on dirt roads. William Creek is one of many other isolated towns across the globe that we visit on our way. Also, there is Anna Creek, which is regarded as the world’s largest cattle station. This is just as well because we also get to take in Lake Cadibarrawirracanna, whose name happens to be the longest in any language globally.’ We set up camp upon arrival, where we would enjoy dinner at the historic William Creek Hotel.

William Creek – Flinders Ranges via Oodnadatta Track

Discover Australia’s Oodnadatta Track, an unsealed road famous for its lunar landscapes. Some highlights on the way include Mutonia Sculpture Park and Lake Eyre, which happens to be the largest salt lake in Australia. And don’t forget to get something for lunch at any of these outback towns before you finally arrive at your destination.
Skytrek Willow Springs Station in the Flinders Ranges is a sheep station. It offers bush camping sites, walking trails through natural springs, and Aboriginal rock art.
Flinders ranges are known for their clear skies, which provide a great opportunity to observe stunning astronomical shows. While dinner will be served next to a campfire, one may choose to sleep under the Milky Way, where many stars can be seen during night hours.

Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park

On this day, visit the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park to witness millions of years’ worth of geological magnificence that has been happening for more than half a billion years. It is possible to make a thrilling journey through ancient canyons and enjoy splendid views on every side. Walk amidst tall river red gums and pines with many tranquil waterholes, remnants of an old homestead and so on. The unforgettable adventure concludes with breathtaking views from untouched wild natural landscapes.
Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park visitors have the chance to interact with a ranger about the park’s conservation efforts and take part in seasonal preservation activities to promote regrowth.
After having lunch, one can go for a drive along Brachina Gorge, which is scenic in its own right, and it passes by a picnic spot in the arid zone where you will find endemic flora and fauna. This allows guests to relax and spend their last evening in camp after covering 160 km.
The best option for lodging would be camping at Skytrek Willow Springs Station.
Park visitors are given an opportunity to discuss environmental issues with a ranger and participate in different types of meaningful conservation programs depending on the season.
Travellers should enjoy their lunch first, then proceed to Alligator Gorge, located in Mount Remarkable National Park within the Southern Flinders Ranges. The end of this trip includes Alligator Gorge.

Our way lies through the picturesque Clare Valley wine region; we expect to reach Adelaide at approximately 6 pm today.
