This 4wd safari adventure tour offers a unique experience over three days, allowing you to explore the highlights of both Kakadu & Litchfield National Park. You’ll witness stunning natural landscapes, including monsoon rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and natural plunge pools.
During this camping tour, you can see unique native flora and fauna in the Top End. We will cruise along the ancient Mary River wetlands by boat, where you may encounter the saltwater crocodile, the world’s largest reptile. Prepare to be amazed as you witness the awe-inspiring beauty of ancient Aboriginal Rock Art at Ubirr, a true testament to the rich history of our land. Each evening, you will have a comfortable indoor accommodation option in twin-share or single pop-up safari tents for added comfort, privacy, and security. Day 1
Itinerary for Kakadu and Litchfield National Park
Embark on a heart-pounding journey from Darwin and immerse yourself in the enchanting Mary River Wetlands for an unforgettable and spine-tingling Crocodile Cruise! During the cruise, you will have the opportunity to observe a variety of bird species native to the Top End, as well as witness the presence of saltwater crocodiles, the region’s largest apex predators. From this point, we will be travelling to Kakadu National Park. Along the way, we will stop at the Bowali Visitor Centre. Here, you can learn more about the park’s wildlife, landscapes, and this remarkable region’s vibrant Aboriginal art, culture, and history. We proceed to Cahills Crossing, a well-known and hazardous body of water that serves as the sole road connection between Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land. We embark on a cruise along the East Alligator River, where we can learn about indigenous Dreamtime stories and observe colourful birds and crocodiles. We proceed to the World Heritage Listed site, Ubirr, and partake in a guided walk through this sacred location that houses some of the oldest and most well-preserved Aboriginal Rock Art globally. We rise to the lookout point, gazing upon the majestic Nadab Floodplain as the sun gracefully descends below the horizon, painting the sky with its vibrant colours. Following a day filled with various activities, we return to our comfortable campsite to prepare a meal and unwind with our fellow travellers.

Day 2
On the second day, visit the Kakadu Waterfalls and Plunge Pools
We will start our journey early on day two as we head south towards Kakadu National Park. We spent the day exploring the natural beauty of the region, hiking through tropical rainforests, swimming in clear pools, and admiring waterfalls and cliffs. When exploring nature’s wonders, we always make a beeline for Twin Falls or Jim Jim Falls, the ultimate destinations for adventure seekers! During our incredible journey, we might discover hidden gems like the breathtaking Barramundi Gorge (Maguk) or the mesmerizing Yurmikmik (Motor Car Falls). Don’t worry; our fantastic guide will ensure you have the most incredible experience ever! If time permits, prepare to be awestruck as we journey to Nourlangie Rock, an ancient indigenous art site adorned with mesmerizing works that hold the secrets of over 20,000 years of history. We examine this region’s social, cultural, and environmental shifts over time before returning to camp for a fulfilling meal and rest.
Day 3
We will travel from Litchfield National Park to Darwin on the third day
We begin our journey south through Pine Creek, a small town near Kakadu National Park in the Katherine region. Pine Creek is known for its gold discovery in the 1970s. Take a refreshing pit stop at the scenic Adelaide River before embarking on our thrilling journey to the breathtaking Litchfield National Park. Experience the breathtaking beauty of Litchfield’s natural water wonders – enchanting waterfalls, meandering streams, and majestic sandstone escarpments await you during our unforgettable afternoon adventure. Indulge in the refreshing oasis of Buley Rockholes, Wangi Falls, or Florence Falls, where you can bask in the blissful embrace of plunge pools, rock holes, and cascading waterfalls. After visiting the Magnetic and Cathedral Termite Mounds, we will return to your accommodation in Darwin by around 7:00 pm.

The weather in the Top End can change quickly and be intense. Experience extreme heat during the day in the dry season, with temperatures soaring above a scorching 40+ degrees Celsius, only to cool down dramatically as the evening sets in. Before you travel, check the average temperatures for that time of year and pack appropriate clothing. If it rains or the weather is harsh, assume your tour will still happen unless the provider tells you otherwise.

- The hiking on this tour is challenging and requires a moderate to high fitness level. People over 70 must provide a doctor's certificate 30 days before travel. The walks range from 2km to 4km each day, often over steep rocky terrain and in hot, humid conditions. The total distance covered in the three-day tour is approximately 9.5km. The guide decides when to start hiking to ensure passenger safety.
