Day 1 - Hahndorf & McLaren Vale to Kangaroo Island

Begin your journey in Adelaide or Glenelg as we embark on a three day food, wine and wildlife experience. Meet your guide and fellow group members at pick up and enjoy your first stop in the enclave of Hahndorf, set in the Adelaide Hills.

Grab a coffee in the German settlement and explore the quaint shops before we hop on board our vehicle to McLaren Vale. Known as the birthplace of the world renowned South Australian wine industry, with over 80 vineyards and cellar doors situated beneath the Mount Lofty ranges, we will visit a winery for some indulgent wine tasting and also drive into the township of McLaren Vale for a scrumptious lunch.

After lunch and another winery visit we depart for Cape Jervis to board our ferry to Kangaroo Island. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the hour long journey on board, arriving at Penneshaw in the evening. We transfer to our deluxe accommodation on the eastern tip of Kangaroo Island with stunning views over the Bay, also enjoying dinner on arrival.

Accommodation: Private boutique accommodation, Cape Willoughby

Day 2 - Kangaroo Island Nature & Wildlife

Following breakfast we head off for a full day of nature and wildlife, encountering seals along this incredible coastline. Our expert guides will give you their unique insight into how they hunt, surf, rest, interact with their pups and defend their territory, as we get up close and personal to these amazing animals.

Our journey continues to Flinders Chase National Park, devastated by the 2019/20 bushfires, the park is still recovering against all odds. Native wildlife is still regularly found naturally in the park. Spot kangaroos, goannas, koalas, eagles, and echidnas as we travel to the ‘Remarkable Rocks’, perched high on ancient platforms above the sea. This is a great opportunity to try your hand at photography and get some epic photos of you and your fellow tour mates.

We enjoy a picnic lunch before visiting Weirs Cove, Admirals Arch and Cape du Couedic Lighthouse, afterward enjoying an swim to cool off at the pristine Hanson Bay Beach, or one of the other beautiful beaches on the way back to our accommodation.

We return to our accommodation for an enjoyable dinner as the sun goes down, before our guides take us on a special tour to spot nocturnal wildlife, nearby Cape Willoughby Lighthouse.

MEALS INCLUDED - DAY TWO Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner

Day 3 - Kangaroo Island to Adelaide

Enjoy a relaxing morning before departing our accommodation after breakfast. Our first port of call today is Emu Bay Beach, arguably Kangaroo Islands most popular, due to its location close to the island’s biggest settlement, Kingscote and its idyllic crystal-clear waters.

We spend some time here admiring the incredible views before making our way to ‘Island Beehive’ for a guided tour to learn about Ligurian bees and how the centre became one of the first organic producers of honey in Australia. We then swap world class honey for world class spirits, as we visit Australia’s oldest gin distillery for a unique tasting paddle of fine spirits, accompanied by a delicious lunch.

We bid farewell to Kangaroo Island as we sail back to the mainland in the afternoon. Say goodbye to your guides and fellow tour mates and transfer to either Glenelg or Adelaide by early evening where your tour arrangements come to an end.

  • Itinerary and timings of venue visits may change due to seasonal ferry changes, changing venue openings, operational logistics and accessibility to the island due to inclement weather.
  • If ferry times are changed significantly then the itinerary may operate in reverse whereby McLaren Vale will be visited on day three instead of day one. We may also visit a beautiful winery on Kangaroo Island if ferry changes limit our time in McLaren Vale.
  • Your two nights boutique accommodation is completely private to the group but two couples will often be sharing the one bathroom.
  • The tour is not designed for single travellers due to the accommodation used. If single travellers wish to join the tour, they must pay the price of two guests.
