Day 1 - Western Macdonnell Ranges and Mereenie Loop Road

We depart Alice Springs nice and early as we plan to make the most of the day. We will start by heading straight to Simpsons Gap, made famous recently by the Indigenous Masterchef cook-off. Here we will discover what wildlife awaits us as we take in a short walk among the towering cliff faces of the Simpsons Range and its permanent waterhole. Although rare we have a good chance to spot a Black-Footed Rock Wallaby taking a morning drink, or hopping along the rockface. We then head to the picturesque Ellery Creek Bighole for a swim and to explore the internationally significant geological site.

After a picnic lunch we will travel on to the spectacular Ormiston Gorge and hike the ‘’Ghost Gum’’ walk before having a chance to cool down in the permanent waterhole. Be sure to keep an eye out for relict plant species from Central Australia's tropical past.

Afterwards, we 4WD our way through the Western Macdonnell Ranges and the Mereenie Loop road. Be on the lookout for other wildlife as we view Tylers Pass and Tnorala (Gosse Bluff Crater) enroute to Kings Canyon Resort to settle down for the night.

Overnight: Kings Canyon Resort.

Day 2 - Kings Canyon and Kathleen Springs

It’s an early rise to take a guided walk to see the towering 300m sandstone walls, palm filled crevices and to take in the beauty of Watarrka (Kings Canyon). We will hike to the conditions to enable you to discover the best that Kings Canyon has to offer. We will then travel the short distance to Kings Creek Cattle Station for lunch and guests will have the opportunity to do a buggy ride to explore some of the 2000 square kilometre property. Afterward we will head back to Kings Canyon Resort for a swim in the pool and to relax during the heat of the day.

For those wanting more adventure, we will do an afternoon drive to Kathleen Springs for the short walk into this tranquil spring fed waterhole.

Overnight: Kings Canyon Resort

MEALS INCLUDED - DAY TWO Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner

Day 3 - Uluru Cultural Centre, Guided Base Tour and Sunset and Field of Light

Travel to Uluru and have lunch at your Wayoutback private campsite in screened eating areas.

In the afternoon, we visit the cultural centre to learn about the incredible and diverse wildlife, culture, and history of the Red Centre before taking a guided walk at the base of Uluru to learn about the vast array of flora and fauna species that make up this unique area.

Time-permitting we will take a quick swim before heading back to camp for an early dinner, so as we can tonight visit the 50,000 plus light installation that makes up the internationally acclaimed, “Field of Lights” tour at Ayers Rock Resort.

Overnight Wayoutback permanent camp with hot showers and flushing toilets

MEALS INCLUDED - DAY TWO Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner

Day 4 - Uluru sunset and morning Segway tour, Camel Ride and Kata Tjuta hike

We start early this morning to take advantage of the beautiful morning light over Uluru. Your tour guide will drive you to the base of Uluru to join a Segway tour around the base of this enormous monolith. Travel the 12 km around the entire base learning about the ancient culture of Uluru’s indigenous people and the caves they frequented.

We will then join the ships of the desert for a morning camel ride with Uluru Camel Tours for a different perspective of the desert landscape.

In the heat of the day, we will have lunch and take a swim in the pool, to relax after our early start.

In the late afternoon we travel to Kata Tjuta to walk amongst the soaring rock domes. Depending on the intensity of the heat and the fitness of the group we will participate in either the Walpa Gorge walk (that passes rare plants and leads to a spearwood grove) or the Valley of the Winds (with breathtaking views that take you through the domes and along the creek beds and away from the crowds).

Afterward we get to witness the famous colours of Uluru as we watch the sun set over the picture-perfect backdrop that is Uluru. After you have filled your memory cards we return to our campsite for our renowned “Endless Star” dining experience and enjoy the amazing night sky on your final night.
