This Wayoutback 7 Day Package combines our 3 Day 4-wheel drive Red Centre Safari with our 3 Day Alice Springs to Darwin Cicada Dreaming Safari including 2 nights in between to explore Alice Springs. Where 4-wheel drive is needed you have it (maximum guests 16) and between Alice Springs and Darwin you will travel in an air conditioned minibus (maximum 24 guests). We'll give you the opportunity to really experience the desert - driving on dirt roads, staying in private campsites, eating quality food cooked over a campfire and sleeping under the clearest southern stars you can imagine before departing North, destination Darwin.
Tour Price Includes:
Professional guide, travel in an air-conditioned 4WD vehicle for 3 days & minibus for 3 days, all meals (as listed on itineraries), camping equipment and fees, all bedding, reference books, drinking water (please provide your own bottle) and park entry fee. Accommodation in Alice Springs is made up of either dorm or budget ensuite (Twin/Single) rooms.
What you need to bring:
Torch, wide brimmed hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, water bottle (1.5 litres), walking shoes/boots, sleeping bag (if you prefer to use your own), toiletries, swim wear, towel, camera, comfortable and casual clothing.
Note:
- Itinerary may change due to cultural reasons, seasonal changes, operational logistics and accessibility.
- Safari is not suitable for children under 8 years of age.
- This 7 day package is a combination of two safari products and the guide and passengers may differ on each safari. Passengers will be staying independently at the accommodation between each of the safaris.
- Single passengers will be provided with a single hotel room in Alice Springs however will be required to share a tent with another same sex passenger whilst on safari.
- Flights must arrive at Ayers Rock Airport on or before 1.05 pm. Flight details must be provided at time of booking please. Clients joining at Ayers Rock will do so after lunch and therefore lunch is at own expense. Please be dressed in comfortable walking clothing and footwear, have a water bottle and hat with sunscreen when boarding tour at Ayers Rock Airport.
- Please call our Reservations Team (1300 551 510) at least 48 hours prior to departure to confirm pick-up location and time.
- Due to limited space on the vehicle please restrict luggage to a day pack and one soft overnight bag/backpack (maximum 10kg).
- For those joining this Safari at Ayers Rock Airport flights must arrive on or before 1.05pm. Advise flight details when placing your reservation. Please be dressed in comfortable walking clothing and footwear, have a water bottle, hat and sunscreen.
- Lunch on Day 1 included for Ex Alice Springs departures only.

In order to maximise your touring experience of Uluru, we recommend that you arrive into Ayers Rock Airport or before 1:05pm. The first pick up from Ayers Rock airport is 1:30pm. It is however possible to start this tour with a pick-up from Ayers Rock Airport on later flights (up to and including the Qantas SYD-AYQ service, which arrives at 2.50pm), Passengers being collected from Ayers Rock Airport at 3.10 pm (2.50 pm flight) will miss the Cultural Centre and due to time restrictions will take a shorter Uluru walk. They will still be able to do a base walk, just not the entire base of Uluru. Passengers being collected from the Ayers Rock Airport earlier than the above will not miss any of the sights except they will not be provided with lunch and will had to have eaten prior to pick up.
Day 1 (Lunch / Dinner)
After picking you up from your accommodation in Alice Springs bright and early at approximately 6.00am, we complete ticketing and introductions and then hit the road on our adventure of a lifetime. (For those commencing the tour at Uluru we will collect you from the Outback Pioneer Hotel at approximately 1.10pm or the airport at 1.30pm).
Our journey begins heading south to Erldunda travelling through the Waterhouse and James Ranges with a stop at the Camel Farm for refreshments and a Camel ride if you're keen (own expense). We stop at Mount Ebenezer Roadhouse where you can view or purchase Aboriginal artifacts. On the way to Uluru we stop to view Atila (Mount Connor), a mesa tableland and the first significant rock formation of our trip.
After a stop for lunch and our arrival at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, we head to the Cultural Centre and the opportunity to learn about the local Aboriginal law and religion (Tjukurpa) before a short, guided walk at the base of Uluru. Those choosing to climb will have the opportunity to do so, weather permitting. (Note: Uluru is a sacred site and Anangu, the indigenous custodians, respectfully ask visitors not to climb it).
Of course no Uluru tour would be complete without experiencing the famous changing colours of Uluru at sunset, complete with sparkling wine and nibbles. It's a great time to kick back and contemplate the day and the vastness of the desert.
Day 2 (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
From a lookout close to our campsite we can view sunrise over Uluru and Kata Tjuta before heading off to Kata Tjuta for a leisurely 7km walk through the "Valley of the Winds". After a stop at the Resort for fuel and refreshments, we're off to Kings Creek Cattle Station for our second nights' private bush camp, complete with bush toilet and shower. With nobody else for miles, this camp has stunning views out over the George Gill Ranges and gives you a real feel for the outback. Dinner around the campfire makes for a very social time with another night out under the stars.
Day 3 (Breakfast / Lunch)
A leisurely start to the day before we head off to Watarrka (Kings Canyon) for a mind blowing 6km walk through the towering walls, crevices and plateaus of Watarrka. We'll visit the Amphitheatre and the Lost City.
Later we start making our way back to Alice Springs travelling on a typical outback dirt road. Two nights’ accommodation in Alice Springs is included (hotel room with ensuite). Dinner is at own expense tonight.
Day 4
A day of leisure to either relax or explore the Red Centre township of Alice Springs. All activities and meals are at your own expense. Accommodation in Alice Springs is included (hotel room with ensuite).
Day 5 (Lunch / Dinner)
You will be collected from your Alice Springs accommodation at approximately 6.00am when our adventure through the ‘Territory’ to Darwin begins. Just north of Alice Springs is the Tropic of Capricorn (80% of the Northern Territory lays north of this point). Further along the track are the Devils Marbles (Karlu Karlu) which are a collection of gigantic granite boulders magically balanced on top of one another. Our day winds to a close just north of Tennant Creek at historic Banka Banka Cattle Station where we camp for the night.
Day 6 (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
No trip to the ‘Territory’ is complete without a visit to the Daly Waters Pub, an important watering hole for explorers and drovers in days gone by and now a great spot for a cold beer, a bit of history and a ‘fair dinkum outback experience’! Later in the day you can take a soak in the Mataranka Thermal Pools, a lush oasis fringed by paperbark trees and nearby where we camp overnight.
Day 7 (Breakfast / Lunch)
Your guide will wake you early this morning for the short drive to the Nitmiluk (Katherine Gorge) National Park which is owned by the Jawoyn Aboriginal people. Ancient sandstone has been carved away by the Katherine River to create a deep and picturesque gorge. You may like to take a boat cruise or paddle a canoe (seasonal) through the peaceful water (both optional and additional cost). In the afternoon, relax and watch the changing landscape as we travel to cosmopolitan Darwin where it's friendly locals, vibrant nightlife and restaurants for all tastes await!
