Desert Artists Itinerary
Friday
Pick up at airport or your accommodation and check-in to Alice Springs Resort. Visit local galleries before ending the day with a final briefing.
Saturday
Depart Alice Springs - Day walk in Eastern MacDonnell's and Trephina Gorge, a perfect introduction to the desert environment. Transfer to a campsite on Aboriginal country, Angkerle Arrenge, with Jungala Kriss and spend the night around his campfire with family members (2 hour walk).
Sunday
Day spent walking on Angkerle Arrenge with Jungala and family with focus on culture and dot painting (2-3 hour walk).
Monday
Early morning departure for Mount Sonder and a beautiful walk into Ormiston Pound. Return to camp and an evening around the fire (4-5 hour walk).
Tuesday
Depart for an extraordinary walk along Section 3 of the Larapinta Trail into the back-end of the spectacular Standley Chasm. Arrive at Hamilton Downs Homestead (6 hour walk).
Wednesday
3 day art residency at the old Hamilton Downs Homestead. Daily walks, tuition and personal time (2-3 hour walk).
Thursday
As above (2-3 hour walk).
Friday
As above with last night soiree around the fire (2-3 hour walk).
Saturday
Early departure for Alice Springs. Enjoy a few hours personal time before bus link to Alice Springs airport.
