Alice Springs Accommodation Alices Secret

Alice's Secret

Julia and Ian welcome you to Alice's Secret Travellers Inn, our cosy and relaxed hostel nestled in the middle of Australia's Red Centre.

'Alice's Secret' is the highest rated hostel in Alice Springs (source: Hostelworld.com - Hostels.com - Reisebine.com) and recommended by Lonely Planet as 'too good to stay a secret' (www.lonelyplanet.com 2006).

The smallest hostel in 'the Alice', we’re tucked away in a quiet street just opposite arid bush land and Botanic Gardens, yet only a five minute walk from the town centre. Being the smallest, we pride ourselves on our cleanliness and friendliness and we are happy to give you that extra bit of attention you will miss in the bigger places.

Alice's Secret is an old fashioned communal hostel with shared facilities including a fully equipped self catering kitchen (where you can enjoy free tea, coffee and cereal all day long), our cosy TV / Video lounge and a spacious and green backyard complete with BBQ, trampoline, badminton court, sparkling saltwater swimming pool, fish pond and abundant birdlife. Guests are also encouraged to make good use of our in-house guitars, table tennis and even try a free poi spinning / fire twirling lesson with Julia.

All our rooms are clean and comfortable, air conditioned in summer and heated in winter. You can choose between dormitory, single, twin or double rooms. All linen and duvets are provided. Please note that none of our rooms have ensuites.

The Aboriginal people of the Western Desert region of Central Australia suffer rates of kidney failure up to 30 times the National average. When treated in urban centres, usually followed by their extended families, the prognosis for them and their family is grim. Being uprooted from their homelands, which they are profoundly connected to, kills the spirit.
A community based dialysis service has been set up out in their homelands so patients in need of treatment can do so in the place they were born with their family there to support them.
