2 Day Red Centre Culture and Country Itinerary

Day 1 (Lunch & Dinner)
This safari begins after collection from your accommodation in Alice Springs at approx 7.45am. Due to cultural reasons and country accessibility, the next two days are spent visiting a collection of Aboriginal Communities, Outstations, Art Galleries, Craft Centers, Bush Food Producers and Aboriginal Tour Operators.
Having such variety ensures your tour reveals the day-to-day lives of local Aboriginal people from Central Australia, all the while showcasing their land and the deep connection they have with it. The mornings options include Black Tank, Honeymoon Gap or Ngurratjuta Iltja Ntjarra (Many Hands Art Gallery) which are sure to leave you an in-depth appreciation of a long-ago traditional way of life and an understanding of how the natural and spiritual world impacts their lives.
We will enjoy lunch with our hosts before departing south toward Rainbow Valley (Wurre). Late afternoon we arrive at Rainbow Valley in time to watch the spectacular sunset. With this location recognised as one of Australia’s most picturesque sunset locations, the colours illuminating this stunning rock feature will amaze you. This makes for a glorious end to the day before we move to our remote private campsite for a night under the southern stars. After a meal cooked over the campfire, settle down into your Aussie swag, just us and the wild of the Central Australian outback.
Day 2 (Breakfast & Lunch)
Up with the birds, the sunrise colours on the surrounding countryside will astound you. After a hearty breakfast our Aboriginal host shares the spectacular art site of Rainbow Valley where we experience rock art, engravings and occupation sites never before open to the public. Listen to the Creation stories (Altyerre) and learn of the cultural significance of this ancient landscape.
After lunch we travel along the Hugh River Stock Route towards Oak Valley where Red Kangaroo (Kerre Aherre), Euro, wild Camel, Horses and a host of natures creatures can be observed. Oak Valley is an inspirational working community boasting an olive plantation, Aboriginal rock carvings and paintings and an ancient fossil field.
We are only 90 minutes from Alice Springs as we travel the Hugh Stock Route and the Old South Road. We will return you to your accommodation at approximately 5pm.
